Aries in Tarot: Part Two

Aries in Tarot: Part Two

Feeling the heat, yet?

In part two, we will be discussing the second decan of Aries and what I’ll call, the Ruler. The first decan came to set the stage, the second determines if it can settle there.

Aries – The Life Force

Aries rules over the head and eyes as well as partial ownership over blood (specifically, certain types of blood flow, hemorrhages, etc.). The energy itself is meant to initiate, not to sustain. Think about the way we accelerate the gas pedal of our car. A temporary increase in applied pressure to change the speed. Once reached, we can ease off a bit. The force of Aries follows that same concept.

The Ram is the archetype/animal/symbol for Aries. It is in their nature to fight, literally for the existence of their species. The impact of their contact resonates deeply with how Aries’ explosive energy moves: forceful and impactful.

Which leads me to my next point. The very nature of this explosive energy comes off aggressive and hostile. It isn’t personal but it is necessary. Aries season has a significant mission to start anew, and it has no time to lallygag. It is here to awaken the dead and dormant. To break through the darkness like a sprouted seed in the ground. It shows us what is necessary to create a new life and way of being from what no longer serves us.

Aries energy also has a sense of innocence to it, as it is the first astrological sign of the new year. We know Aries for red, but white also corresponds to the purity of this life force energy. We see further symbolism at the uterus, the place where life begins. The shape looks quite similar to the Aries glyph. The uterus either prepares to create and carry life ever 28 days. And, if you think about all the sperm cells that have to fight to be the chosen one to fertilize the egg? Sounds pretty Aries-Warrior coded to me.

The Three of Wands

Mahogany Tarot Deck

The Two of Wands we discussed in Part One focused on the vision. Transition over to the Three of Wands and we’re in the territory of dominion as we take the time to pause and observe the manifestation real time.

  • Note how the Seeker and the wands stand firm as he is supported by one wand and flanked by two others Does the Seeker know they’re there? It is a visual representation of how the energy of fire can be supportive for our journeys when handled well.
  • The yellow of this card pays homage to the Sun’s influence here, but I also see it as the moment in time where an explosion is the brightest. The time where we pause and brace as we wait for the dust to settle and the ships to roll in. This card is that ‘in-betweeen’ moment.
  • The Seeker’s red (Aries/personal power/ambition) clothing is patched together with yellow-green (Sun/Leo/optimism & new growth) fabric, which can indicate a former presence of difficulties and struggle. His right arm looks to be armor of some sort which pays homage to the warrior spirit of Aries and further support this idea.

When this card appears for the Seeker, it can note a time where they are deciding whether they have all they need to proceed forward or if more support is required. Your spread should further clarify which may be true.

Here’s some journal prompts to sit with this energy:

  1. When speaking on your future endeavors, what lessons has your process (up to this point) taught you so far?
  2. What support do you feel you need in this season to see your manifestations come to fruition?

What actions can you, personally, take right now to support your mission further?

In conclusion, we see the natural progression of Aries energy throughout the season and tarot essentially mirrors it. The Three of Wands is the checkpoint, to assess what we see in front of us and modify accordingly. Where most see agression and hostility, we now see mission. Purity. Life Force. By any means necessary.

Stay tuned next week for part three. As always, let me know your thoughts and any insights you may have noticed. Learn anything new? Hope this helps.
