Aries in Tarot: Part Three

This week is bringing us Aries’ final lessons before we transition over to Taurus season.

I’m sure we could all use a little breather. In today’s discussion, I’m breaking down the 4 of Wands to close out the last decan of Aries.

To this point, we’ve seen the evolution of the ignited flame Aries brings to propel us forward into a new year. First, we struck the Martian match with the visionary energy of the Two of Wands. Next, we witnessed the spark in all its solar glory with the Three of Wands. Now, we’re using that energy to help redefine what home and belonging means for us with the Venusian-influenced Four of Wands.

The final decan of Aries is influenced heavily by Venus, the planet of love, pleasure, interpersonal relationships, and values (we’ll go deeper with Venus starting next week). With this card, we’re still embracing the fire; however, we’re taking time to see if the fire can be sustained as we journey forward.

The four wands on the card resemble a gateway meant to be stepped into. What awaits on the other side is intentionally unobscured (unlike The High Priestess and Justice, see below) from view. This phase in the Fool’s journey focuses on the values that shape our existence as human. Things like community, support, family, and so on.

I also see that fourth wand as the Seeker. The way the Two and Three of Wands have the Seeker firmly planted amongst the others. The rose garland draped above is symbolic of Taurean themes of home and personal values, which we also find throughout a few tarot cards (see below.)

The castle-style home in the back has an Aries touch as well. Note the red triangular dome at the top, this is also the alchemical symbol for fire. Lots of ancient structures took on this appearance as well as older homes. The pointed top is focused direction upwards.

Putting It All Together

Overall, the Four of Wands asks us to integrate Venusian principles such as our worth, values, and sense of belonging.

It’s a beautiful way to transition from Aries to Taurus season, grounding that fire and focusing it in the direction of your vision. Tarot for Change expands further, asking us to choose between people and situations who embrace the whole you versus the versions that are digestible for others.

Think back to the vision you’ve cultivated. Does it give you freedom to embrace all parts of you, like the people in this tarot card? Do you see yourself in those people, the version of you who steps through those gates and into your best self? Or, are we building on unstable ground?

As always, would love to hear your thoughts and any additional input or insights that come to you. Hope this helps.
