My mom was telling me about this dream she had last night about seeing her dead friends and relatives, then them asking her if she was ready to join them. She was so fearful when describing what happened, but me? I saw something beautiful unfolding…
I’ve seen death in a new light since leaving Abrahamic religion. A time for celebration, home going to once again be with the Ancestors. I don’t have to wait for someone on the other side to tell me what happens, they’ve shown me. And from being someone who communicates with the ‘dead’ in some way on a daily basis, I honestly am looking forward to my reunion!
I feel the same about all forms of death. Death of friendships that have run its course. Ego death. The recent passing of Malcom Jamal Warner to be with the Ancestors. For it to have died means that I have also let it go, honoring the cycles that must happen to us all at some point.
The inspiration of the title came from an episode of Iyanla Vanzant’s, Fix My Life, and if that would resonate with more people, we’d really be better off. We make so many commitments to things without honoring that nothing really belongs to us. Or, we feel it’ll always be here forever as long as I squeeze it tight to my chest. All things must eventually die, and that doesn’t stop with people. Are you the same person you were 3 years ago? Whether you believe you are or aren’t, something (many things) had to be let go to create the best version of you that you are today.
Letting something die doesn’t mean you love it any less. In fact, it means you love it enough to allow it to become what it needs to be without the restraints of your control. This is true growth. You shed dead skin cells every single day, and new skin takes its place. How crazy does it sound to try and attach that dead skin back on your body? Same can be applied to anything that has served its purpose in your life.
The beautiful thing about our Spirits is that they always align us with exactly what we need when we need it, and never leave us empty handed when we exercise the most pure form of love. If this is something that doesn’t align with where you are right now, that’s ok. Maybe that thing that needs to die hasn’t fully transitioned yet for you to see your version of truth in this message, and that’s also ok. You never question whether or not new skin will form when the old sheds away, right? Now, apply that to every aspect of your life and watch how things truly shift for you. I ain’t telling you what I don’t know! May this post bring peace and light to you. Thank you for reading along!
