It was 2017 when I started asking the right questions at the right time. This was also the year of my remembering (awakening). I searched for so many answers and that’s when I found Tarot on TikTok and had my first reading. The only thing I remember about it was the persistent voice in my head saying, “you can do this, too” and “why are you afraid?” Little did I know, it was the portal that opened up my consciousness to higher realms. I craved more. I immersed myself in it. It gave my life so much more meaning in ways I can’t even begin to describe!
Tarot was the first modality that taught me so much more than just the meanings of the cards. They taught me about myself. Who I am. Why I exist the way I do, and how I can improve. Key 0, The Fool, was the representation of me at that fork in the road where I can choose to step off the cliff into the unknown or let my control and fear keep me frozen. Guess which one I chose?
I’ve seen Tarot get this reputation of being some future-telling, relationship-intruding, vain display of surface-level conversations. From the shuffle shows, to the moody lights and glamour. Now let’s be real, that’s what draws the people in! Drama and shows is what attracts your audience, and I had none of that.
“Remember that the Tarot is a great and sacred arcanum – its abuse is an obscenity in the inner and a folly in the outer. It is intended for quite other purposes than to determine when the tall dark man will meet the fair rich widow.” – Jack Parsons

I came on live with my head wrapped, ready for war (haha!). I didn’t give a damn about how I looked, my desire was to deliver the messages in a profound way to where what I looked like took a backseat to my gift. I also felt a way when more and more of my clients wanted to focus on relationships instead of their own growth to the point where I wanted to stop readings altogether. Man that used to piss me off! You mean I’m going through all these awakenings just to tell people about the relationships they should’ve left a long time ago? This can’t be it!
Listen, when I tell you Spirit swiftly corrected me to get out of my egooooo?! Whew, chile! Sometimes those relationships are the catalyst to their own spiritual growth and journeys…who am I to judge how they get there? They may come with one goal in mind, but Spirit always had other plans and it was up to them to flow with it or not. The rest is none of my business.
Here we are years later and my approach to my tarot practice is vastly different than where I started. I began to see Tarot as more than what happens outside of me, and began to go within. But every step in my evolution and elevation had to be experienced for me to get here. You see, it wasn’t just the cards that elevated my mindset. It was the practice as a whole, and how important it is to focus back on what makes me stand out as a Tarot reader instead of comparing what I perceived from others to my own authenticity.
I’ll end with this… if Tarot is something that is calling out to you, it could be happening to show you more of who you are. Tarot is an ancient practice and concept that existed way before the cards did. It is an ever-evolving practice that takes the journey with you. And just when you think you’ve learned all you could, Spirit will open your eyes to a whole new way of looking at it…if you allow it. I’m forever curious about these 78 keys of self-mastery. That’s the secret. Keep an open mind and allow Spirit to do the rest.
