As we close out the final decan of Libra, Jupiter enters the chat to break us free from Saturn’s (very necessary) restraints from the decan prior. Let’s see what wisdom this large, benefic planet has in store for us.

Terminology:

Decan: A 10-degree section of an astrological chart

Domicile: Place in the zodiac where the planet is ‘home’

Detriment: Opposing sign to the ruler (domicile); uncomfortable energy

Exaltation: where a planet functions at its strongest

Fall: opposing sign to the exaltation; weakest positioning

Femininity: passive, receptive, still energy

Masculinity: active, action-oriented energy

The Tarot Deck

Jupiter in Libra

At this point, we have learned that Libra desires balance. From the first decan, the Moon’s placement here wants us to live in peace and harmony. Next, Saturn gives structure and limits on how much of that peaceful balance prevents us from taking off those rose-colored classes. Now, Jupiter wants us to gain wisdom from what the Moon and Saturn taught us as we transition towards the depths of Scorpio season.

When Jupiter’s “jolly gaseous giant” personality enters Libra, expansion at its best looks like seeing the benefit of complimentary relationships where we embrace what makes us different rather than believing balance looks the same for everyone. Or, believing that what we want is the same as what everyone else wants around us.

Saturn put us on to this in the last decan, leaving us with realistic expectations and boundaries where we learn balance still requires limits. When we can come together on this, the wisdom we gain is to understand we can still obtain universal balance when everyone leans into what makes them feel balanced within themselves, even if it doesn’t look the same to someone else.

You see, this placement really does care about the well-being of others. But even in this seemingly harmless ideal, we must always keep in mind to respect one another’s differences without believing our way is law. Keep what’s in your cup sacred. The overflow is what everyone else gets to witness, so don’t deplete yourself for the sake of desiring the same for others.

4 of Swords

A man rests in a sacred place. A stained glass window depicts a woman, child, and home. Three gray swords point downward over the man. A sword is embedded below him. -Holistic Tarot by Benebell Wen

After periods of war, it is common amongst some cultural traditions for those in battle to return home and partake in some form of a purification ritual for atonement, restoration, and peace.

Ancient cultures understood better than us the need to aid warriors when they returned from war and many had rituals that helped heal these ruptures. For example, in Rome, the vestal virgins would bathe returning soldiers to purge them of the corruption of war. The Maasai warriors of East Africa had purification rites for the homecoming of their fighters. The Native Americans held sweat lodge purification rituals for returning warriors in which their stories could be told and their “inner pollution” could be left among the hot stones, evaporating into steam and cleansing the warrior. –Karen O’Donnell — Ancient Origins

I can see this same thing happening with the 4 of Swords. From the card prior, we see the heartbreak that takes place when logic and reasoning enters the heart space where our emotions and feelings once dwelled. Now, we are being asked to take a time of reprieve to come to a sense of understanding after a time of battle.

You’re no longer the same version of yourself you once were before the 3 of Swords. Naturally, Libra’s influence here wants the company of our home and family to work through our new sense of self. But now, seeing them through the glass window notes that this particular period of our lives is meant for us to come to our own understanding outside of the influence of others. Even when we mean well.

Crowley calls this card truce, stating, “Minds too indolent or too cowardly to think out their own problems hail joyfully this policy of appeasement.” This is where logic and reasoning begins to form our own sense of law and order. It is where we lean into our own belief systems and dogma shaped from past experiences that governs our way forward.

Final Thoughts

As Libra season comes to a close, this cardinal, Venusian energy asks us to lean into love, empathy, and compassion concerning matters of law, logic, and reason. Just because the mind and intellect now takes the driver’s seat doesn’t mean we don’t still take consideration from the heart that has taken the role of the passenger. No matter what we choose to believe in, if we’re not moving in love, we’re moving towards destruction. As always, share your thoughts and questions, and I hope this helps.

With love,
