The Hermit, The Moon, & Eclipse Season

Imagine trying to power your home A/C into a surge protector (I said, IMAGINE). This is the type of energy a perfectly aligned sun, moon, and earth can feel like in a phenomenon we call an eclipse. It can feel ‘chaotic’, like you’re an extra in “Twister” the movie. Maybe you’re more intuitive and inclined to cut the fat from our lives that are no longer serving us. Or, these eclipses feel like confirmation that you’re right where you’re supposed to be. Either way, BOTH can be true for you at once. Now wrap that up in the healing, disciplined, hard-working energy of Virgo season and you got that laser-focused energetic support from the Universe to focus on YOU.

Now, for some you may feel the need to…do. Do more writing, more manifesting, more working out, more posting, more more more. That’s normal, especially if you’re someone who’s been procrastinating and sitting around watching everyone else live their lives while you spiral into analysis paralysis. Get up, sis! “More” isn’t necessarily the goal during this eclipse season, this is a time of transforming your mind and reflecting on the roles you’ve played in your life that led you to where you are today (good/bad/indifferent). Eclipse season feels like this big ass mirror that forces you to sit down and reflect so you don’t repeat any nonproductive patterns of your past. It’s not meant to chastise you, sis. Life happens to all of us. But, it is time to get real honest with ourselves, forgive ourselves, and treat ourselves better through discipline and reflective work that empowers you to be a better version of you.

So, how does the Hermit and the Moon play into this?

In astrology, Virgo and Pisces are sister signs which means their energetic signature reflects most with the houses that ‘look’ directly at one another (the 6th house-Virgo, 12th house-Pisces). Think about the Virgos and Pisces you have in your life. Virgos are detail-oriented, service-driven, and health-focused. Give a Virgo some structure, a planner/list, and watch them work. However, this can also be Virgo’s kryptonite when they have no sense of work-play balance to the point of burnout. We love a Virgo’s willingness to take care of others but don’t forget about taking care of yourSELF!

The Hermit is the reminder for Virgo. A wise energy that knows when to retreat and go within. See the small lamp he’s holding? It lights the path juuuust enough for Virgo to put one foot in front of the other. To know just enough without overwhelming them with the entire game plan (if they had it, they’ll spend too much time overthinking and not enough on handling the more digestible tasks at hand). Speaking of digestion, Virgo, that upset tummy may be due to that overworked nervous system you tend to neglect. Now gone, sat down somewhere!

Now, insert the spiritual, intuitive Moon and Pisces energy. Whereas Virgo was concerned with the small details, Pisces brings the entire picture into perspective (see how Virgo/Pisces mirror one another?). Where Virgo was more analytical/practical, Pisces steps in to be more intuitive, feminine, reflective. Both have their place during this eclipse season and Virgo season. The Moon comes in to remind us of the importance of shadow work, and embracing both the ‘domesticated’ and ‘wild’ versions of who we are. The Moon tells us to put on our armor of protection (the hard shell of the crawdad) and lean on your intuitive self in the upcoming phases of your spiritual journey. The shadows also speak to the eclipse energy we’re feeling this season. A time for introspection and moving forward from our comfort zones and into a leap of faith, taking with us and applying all the lessons we’ve learned up to this point to guide us going forward.

Regardless of your astrological placements, this is a collective energy to tie up any loose ends and prepare for the winter ahead. Trust you’ve done all you were supposed to do and rest in that knowing. You’re right where you’re supposed to be at all times. Asé to the Ancestors.
